What is the average HP?

I've been wondering how much HP does it actually put out? With no mods, I've seen on Super Tuner TV that the one they tested had 235 hp. But has anyone that has had theres dynoed actually reached the estimated 271 hp?

Was it 235 WHP? The 271 is estimated at the crank.

The 271HP rating that mitsubishi claims is at the Crank.. so 235-250 (WHP or Wheel Horsepower) is pretty average, some dynos have been lower, some have been higher.. If you've read enough of the posts you've probably already read that Dyno numbers are pretty arbitrary and really only good for run to run testing on the same dyno since the deltas (the improvements between changes on the same dyno under the same conditions) will show a gain that would be similar no matter what car the modification was made on.

I find that Dyno #'s are somewhat subjective (you can bias corrected dyno values just by fiddling with the vehicle weight, and Drag Coefficient in the dyno program, or even changing the wheels on the car)

I can't say for sure what mine was, I never got a baseline dyno run.. There isn't a AWD dyno anywhere near where I live thats convenient to get to.. we usually have to "Guestimate" our numbers based on track performance which has actually been fairly accurate as long as you get the inputs correct.

I'm figureing you're 'guesstimating' the crank numbers here? I'm doubting you actually hooked the motor directly up to a dyno.

The latest Import Tuner has an article doing dyno on an Evo from base through a few mods. The baseline run was 230.0 WHP. With Apexi Power FC and JIC 505S TI exhaust, and with tuning, it goes up to 263.8 WHP.

The last fifty or so stock EVOs have all made 195-205whp on our AWD Dyno Dynamics Dyno. This, in my opinion, translates to a 260-265hp car, a bit shy of the manufacturers claim. Of course, this is on our 91 octane CA gas. The extra 5-10hp usually arrives for the party when you run 93-94 octane fuel.

Just my 2c,
Shiv

I run a lot of 94 and sometimes 92. It feels like torque is the big party crasher.

Cenex! They are wierd, you can buy feed for your horses and cattle, diesel for your big rig and 94 for your Japanese sports car. Not every cenex has 94 though.
