Drove my evo 4,000 miles in 4 1/2 days....

So I recently moved to the Fort Richardson/Anchorage area from Louisville, KY and decided it would be a good idea to drive my evo the whole way, alone. I packed my car up with roughly 500 pounds worth of my belongings and set off on a friday at about 11:00 am. Throughout my trip I averaged close to a thousand miles a day and experienced no problems out of the car whatsoever. My car had close to 103k miles on it when I started the drive, which kind of scared me, but proved to not be an issue. I did do a tune up on the care before I left but nothing note worthy. I was very impressed with the car when I got into the smoky mountains (which took about a day and a half to get through) because I was in boost for most of the time going up and down the side of the mountains. I have to say an evo probably wasn't a good choice to drive on the Alaskan Highway with. That road was pretty damn haggard and just about rattled the teeth out of my skull. Somewhere along the alcan I picked up a large crack in my windshield which I now have to get replaced, but I feel fortunate that that's the only repair I need to make. I have to say as long as it was, it was a beautiful drive, but for sure would not do it again.

Thanks man, I just thought something like that is a testiment to how well built these cars are, especially with having so many miles to begin with.

Wow thats one heck of a drive man, this fall im going to be starting the move from Pittsburgh PA down to Bowling Green KY and I thought driving my Evo then was going to be a distance, I dont tend to take my evo out on far trips I usually use my mother's car or my Cummins for that. But 4 1/2 days thats a drive for sure!

Yeah I drove about 15+ hours a day. I was kinda crazy once I got up into the B.C. Yukon Territory area because I hit the whole no darkness thing. I ran it a couple times where it was 1am and it was still fully daylight out. It a pretty crazy feeling. If it wasnt so long I wouldnt hesitate doing it in the evo again, it shrugged off the whole thing. I say go for it dude.

When you crossed over into B.C. did the posted speed signs also switch from MPH to KM?

I crossed over into Canada in Sasketchewan (sp?), and the whole time I was in Canada all the speed signs were in KM/H. I lived in Germany for two years so it wasn't too much of an issue for me. For the most part I just went with the flow of traffic.

You guys forget these are rally bred beasts. A couple mountains, and frozen tundra? pffft, not a problem. Must have been an awesome trip.

KMs make more sense then mph. Metric system ftw. That's a crazy drive. I used to drive up to Toronto from Atlanta pretty regular before my wife moved down. Not in the Evo. Furthest I've driven it was Orlando.

To the OP, so since you drove 1000 miles per day, did you take any meds to keep yourself awake? I'm just curious because even for me after a 6 hour drive I'm pretty much ready to call it a day

Nope I just sucked it up and kept driving. I think I listened to about every CD I have about 5 times through though. I think I may have drank one 5 hour energy shot once but that was about it.
