looking to jump from Audi to Evo

Hey folks,
I have a very low mileaged always garaged Audi. I have come across an evo IX with low miles that has been slightly modified. The only mod that I do not like is that it appears it has an HKS SSQ BOV. Am I going to easily be able to put an MR Diverter valve back on, or do evo's require re-routing kits for BOV's meaning I can not directly swap the DV for the HKS unit. I am going to look at the car Saturday to see if I can make the jump or not. I have always wanted an Evo, but love the fit & finish of my Audi.

Pic of my car

The Evo BOV is recirculated to the intake from the factory. If the BOV is the only mod, then they must have done something to the turbo inlet pipe to cap off the recirculation tube. You will need to address that somehow.

If you purchase an intake kit like the one ETS sells, you get a new turbo inlet pipe and new pipes for connecting the BOV. That would solve your problem.

Also note the interior in the Evo will likely be **** next to your Audi. Very different audience for the two cars.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to tell us more about the car, including exactly which mods are installed and by whom.

I think you'll be disappointed when you find out how bland the Evo is on the inside... No awesome factory radio. Nothing in the middle of the dash that tells you MPG, etc. No cruise control. All performance.

If it has a SSQ BOV does the car still have a MAF? Does it vent to atmosphere? If it does vent to atmosphere see if there is a MAP sensor (converted to speed density).

Get us some clear pics of the engine bay.

+1... the Audi looks clean and why would you want to step down in many ways to an EVO from an Audi. Don't get me wrong, I love my EVO but I've had an E46 M3 and my next car will probably be an S4 so I do miss the EUROtrash luxor....

have you driven EVOs in the past?

also, not sure what your situation is women wise(no flaming people), but GFs normally are not fans of EVOs. Be prepared to hear *****ing and complaining from the GF if you go from an nice Euro lux sedan to an ECOnobox performance JDM car.

I'd keep the Audi and look for a cheap 8 because EVOs(expecially CT9As) are not as comfortable as any Audi(modded or specially stock). The 9 is an overall better EVO but 8s can be had for as cheap as low teens nowadays. Clean low mileage 9s are overpriced and you can get an 08 X for what some people want for them.

Remember too that you can just get a 9 bumper and slap it on any 8 if it is the cosmetics you prefer of a 9 over an 8.

as for the 9 you are talking about... these guys are right... how bout giving us the whole skimmy on all mods on the car to better help you

again... nice Audi man... I would love to be able to purchase a 2010/11 S4 right now in white.

i had a B5 S4 before my Evo and i do love the Evo more in MOST aspects.. but sometimes i do miss the comforts of my S4 (things lke heated seats, climatronic, cabin quiteness, etc...)

yes, this is true. All of the girls I hang out with in my town absolutley love my Audi. The problem is before my Audi I had a 400 hp Wrx and now I miss the power & the ability to romp it on dirt roads. I guess it's a gigantic trade off. My audi is only around 295 HP to the crank. Still fun, but not quite the top end I'm looking for. And yes, my factory sound system is amazing and I have a factory subwoofer as well. My other idea is buying a 2011 Audi A3, S-line, DSG, Quattro & putting the S3 turbo kit in.... those make around 285 WHP....and I get to upgrade my interior again from my 06'

here is a pic of the engine bay.

From the looks of the pic yes it would be as simple as swapping the stock dv back in the car since the hks one is routed back into the intake.

I would make the switch if I was you. If you have never owned an evo you wont regret it.

I think a grey, black or white evo are the only colors I could own, so I am glad I stummbled across this grey one. I will be test driving it Saturday Afternoon, So we will see how I like it! I am sure going from 290ish CHP in my audi to 390ish CHP in this evo is going to feel night/day.
