I think I have a boost issue, help!?

About my car...03evo with a 05 motor and tranny. ACT 6 puck clutch, LSD up front, ETS intercooler with Injen pipping, AEM intake, 09 BOV, 255 walbro fuel pump.

My boost gauge reads 19-20 vac and 12 psi with my foot fully in it. Does this seem right??

Thanks for any help

no thats about WG pressure, sounds like you have a line off or the WGA rod isnt adjusted correctly

How do I go about adjusting it? Is there a schematic on how the vaccume lines are routed somewhere?

19-20 vac is perfect. Sounds exactly like what my car did when I bought it... it had been reverted back to stock and the boost pill wasn't reinstalled in the line to the WGA, so I'm going to +1 the WG pressure and recommend checking that part of the vacuum system first.

Simply put, you've got the vac line that runs down to the front of the engine bay, it gets tee'd, one line going to the solenoid, the other to the WGA. The other line from the solenoid should then go back to the intake pipe. The line from the tee to the WGA should have a little restrictor pill in it, you should be able to feel it if you squish the line from top to bottom. If the setup isn't like that, or there's no pill, there's your problem.

Thank you cmspaz. I looked at the vacuum lines and they dont look stock. I couldn't see or feel any pill in the line either. Called the dealership and they want to charge $35 for the lines and it'll take 4 days to get them. Seems a little much for rubber hose!

You can get vac line anywhere... the pill you'll need the mitsu part (don't know the number but I'm sure you can find it on here)... I just ordered the AC spacer kit from one of the discount online dealers, and it ended up being like $5 cheaper shipped than it was picked up from my local dealer.

Check the all the lines for the obvious. If that proves useless swap your Boost Control Solenoid located on the right side front corner of your car down below intake it will have vaccum hoses running to it.

The solenoids go bad and will cause boosting issues but you can have perfect vacuum still, which is why I would suggest changing it out. That’s what I would hang my hat on as being the culprit.

Hope that helps.

So the solenoid is still in there, right? It might be stuck shut. Even with the restrictor pill, the system needs the solenoid to bleed off excess pressure in the line or pressure will be able to equalize between both sides of the pill.

Is there anyone local to you who you could borrow a manual boost controller from?
