FQ300/FQ330 mods in US?
Hey is it possible to get the a shop to bring a standard Evo 8 uprated to a FQ-300 or FQ-330? Is there a Ralliart shop that can do it?
I'm not an engineer and don't to mess with taking it apart myself.

Well, what country are you in? You have no location info available.
If you are in the US...
The Ralliart ecu's are available in the US, but I don't believe they are compatible with the US Spec Evo VIII. But the good news is that there are a few companies out there that will either reprogram your stock ecu or sell you a plug and play module that will get you a pile of extra hp.
If you are in the UK.....
I've heard that the dealerships can retrofit any Evo with the FQ packages. So call your dealer for pricing and availability.

I'm in the US, I've previously has Toyota Celica Carlos Sainz Group N spec and Supra Twin Turbo in UK, I moved over here 3 years ago. The EVO 8 is a new buy, I got it for 2K less than sticker after hagling with the dealer, got pitpass and $1000 rebate thrown in too! They were really great (Gillman, TX)!
Can you name some names? Which companies can reprogram the ECU. Can they give me a reprogrammed ECU, I can drop in the orginal when I want to take it back to dealer?
I'm in Texas.
Thanks for fast response, you almost as fast as the EVO!

No internals (not even cams) are changed on the FQs... Keep in mind this is just a 50 hp bump. With a turboback and ECU tuning, you'll get that. That's what the FQ packs are - HKS turboback (FQ300) + ECU flash (FQ330). Not a big deal... The best part of that whole deal is that they are factory (UK) authorized. You can make 330 bhp (about 290 whp) pretty easily and for a lot less money. If I remember correctly, the FQ330 upgrade is about $8,000...
I had heard that the UK spec Evo 8 has AYC/ACD standard, I don't see why the US lost out on these additions.

And you would pay almost $53,000 (approx. £31,000) for an FQ-330 with S-AYC/ACD, etc.? I didn't think so. Neither would I.
Also, with AYC/ACD, your servicing every 5,000 miles would cost $120 or so. Not good. I look at it as less stuff to break down. Imagine the poor bastards that have a 2004 Mercedes with every electronic gadget - now imagine that car 10 years from now when things start to crap out... No thanks.

I take your point about the price they really need to do something there, the STI has most of these for 2-3K more. And yes, electronics break, but as any mechanic knows so will wear and tear on the mechanical components.
The AYC/ACD have been around for years, they've iron out most of the kinks in the system by now. Have you heard anything along the lines that it breaks down often?
The servicing I've got is 5000 miles with Mitsu Pitstop plan they gave me with the car anyways, they change everything and make all the necessary checks without cost. I actually got the plan as thrown in as part of purchasing negotiations.

Remember, the average person in the UK drives about 5k miles each year....so the service interval for the ACD/AYC system is pretty much an annual event. Here in the US the average driver does 12-15k miles a year. I have driven 25k miles in the past 10 months! Who would deal with having a required electronic systems service every 2-4 months? And that $120 cost is just the check-up/fluid change. If they need to replace anything, it gets quite expensive.
Besides, ACD/AYC are drivers aids to help people who aren't capable drivers. :P

I don't plan on driving long distances, although I just feel like driving the EVO because its so much fun. My work is only 5 miles away so I don't really have too drive far daily.
I admit the pitstop isn't everything but I got it for free so I can't really complain.
Thanks for your coments - its all good
