Piston Condition??

Hi,,

Got my car re-assembled with new custom made CP Carillos
Unfortunately we had to remove the head to change valve stems which seemed to have been leaking oil.. During the process, this is the condition of the pistons we found..
Though we were still in tuning phase (high power relatively, high boost.. ) I'm confused whether this is a normal sight or I should be worried..

Thanks for input!

Wael

From what I can see, I'd assume it's fairly normal for a motor that had been leaking oil down the valve guides.

There's no damage just carbon build up, correct? If so, clean them up and keep going!

Pump gas I suppose equivalent to your 95 and Meth/water injection..

That's what tuner saying.. But garage is saying the surrounds of the pistons are not gathering carbon, which he is saying is a 'lean' condition?

And how many miles are on the pistons. My OEM pistons were carbon up after 60k on pump but not that bad even. I cleaned them up and its going on another 70k+ now.

I know race gas tends to carbon up piston tops and get crap nasty inside the engine that's why I asked about the fuel

Not even 1,000miles on the new piston.. engine fully built recently! No race gas, just Meth.. Tuner (4WS) is of same opinion as yours!

Only garage technicians saying that we are going lean, because the surrounds of the pistons are shiny and the carbon is built only in their inside..

Is it a matter of opinion?

They're thinking the buildup is from fuel

What they're not realizing is that it's oil from a previous oil consumption issue.

There isn't much you can tell about the tune with all of that carbon

Like I said, clean it up and run it. No worries
