Certainly one heck of a car to start off with if you know nothing of the Evo's... you got some work ahead of you with that one

Wow, yeah that car is almost stock,LOL

Never raced even.

Anyway, good luck on the car. CBRD rad, fuel upgrades, etc. Call Chad at CBRD, maybe he worked on it or knows what the car has in it?

Hmmm. You're in NJ. Did you get that car from a place called Wholesale Automotive Group in NJ? If so I saw that exact car up for sale on Autotrader from them and it was definitely less than 26k. More like 23 and change. Unless of course you mean AFTER taxes. Hopefully you didn't get dicked over. And really, no offense but I would recommend AGAINST getting any modified Evo from a used car lot man. You really have to know what you're looking at and even then that might not help you. I really hope you got lucky because it looks like someone spent some good $$ on decent parts for the car. Just hope that 2 months ago it wasn't ripping up the streets somewhere in northern NJ/NYC area getting the **** ran out of it street racing and whatnot.

Whoa just curious why you paid $26k not knowing what was going on underneath the hood. I would have suggested going to get it fully inspected and have compression tests done, before you even considered buying it.

From the looks of it the car was highly modified to the point where the only thing stock is the strut bar and spark plug cover lol. It looks like there are a few quality parts going on though, I would try and find out the original owner and get some history on the car before you start driving it heavily. It might need to be retuned, if the owner removed some mods, which could be possible.

and I bought it because from the looks of it looks to be professionally upgraded and worked on wasn’t some backyard mechanic bolting on and red lining every time he drove it and because I go to UTI and if I need to work on the car or dyno it or get parts I can get them all through there

You plan on daily driving this car? You def paid top dollar for it. I am outside of philly if you want to ever swing by I would be more than happy to take a look at it for you. Also I would get yourself a tatrix cable and evoscan and ecu flash. You can at least read the tune and see what is on the ecu.

Going to UTI isnt saying much... No offense to you or anyone at your school as I have/had buddies that went/going there and it is a $hithole, and employeers really could careless that you went to a school for a year and a half to get a certification :/

Not saying you dont know your stuff but you certainly purchased someones project... who knows what it needs or what secrets were put into that car that only the previous owner knows, You'll find out the hard way I suppose...

Certainly wouldnt have bought a 26k car not knowing anything about it. But thats just me

Yep, then that was the car I saw for sale on autotrader. Looked decent and lower mileage. The parts are legit, hopefully you have some luck with it. First step is probably a compression/leakdown test, followed by a boost look test and then definitely get that thing tuned no matter what.

If you have the money and time take it to CBRD anyway, have them do diagnostics on it and have Chad tune it. You couldn't ask for someone better to take care of your car. Good luck, keep us posted and do a ton of research on these forums. Everything you need to know is here on this site and has been asked before.

Wow. I can't believe you guys have the nerve to ask someone how much they pay for a car and then criticize the amount paid. The OP could've just said "I'd rather not say" and saved himself a lot of hassle.

Here's the thing: You can't buy these cars new. You pay for what you want and that is what the OP did. End of story.

As far as UTI is concerned, yeah, maybe David Buschur isn't going to hire him, but there are plenty of Lexus, Audi, etc. dealerships that will, as they view someone willing to sit in class to get a certification as someone who is capable of being trained on the new technology. When he's knocking down 80hrs a week in a 40hr timeframe at $30/hr, he'll be just fine.

vinnie, I paid more for my car than I wanted to, but you know what? It was right down the road, it was the color I wanted, and I'm at peace with that. I'm also not planning on selling this car anytime soon, so I was willing to pay the price I paid. It's only money, you'll make more, and remember: Haters gonna hate.

Enjoy the car.

That's where you are wrong. Unless you know first hand about this. You might want to watch the information you spit out. For me, I do know first hand.. and it isnt as simple as you may think it sounds from the commercials you view on TV.

I'm not trying to shoot down his career field/school choice, but its tougher and tougher as the years go by to become a tech straight out of UTI.. gotta do some oil changes the first few months out of school and get some experience under your belt.

I dont mean to be rude or nothing, just telling you how it is...
