does the Evo VIII and XI share the same gear oil? I was at the dealership today picking up some for a buddy and the parts guy said they didn't share the same gear oil. But on the Scheduled Maintenance Tables & Fluid Part #'s/Quantities thread it shows the same part number. MZ313376? Typo or is this another parts guy that doesn't know the difference between a Lancer and Evo. Thank you guys.

 

Yes same gear oil unless either of them is an MR...

 

just out of curiosity; whats the worst that could happen if you put in the gear oil used in MRs?

 

Since it is a different API GL classification oil it could cause corrosion to the gear sets...
