Starter pin keeps popping off!
Hey guys so the negative wire that connects to the starter is a pin type. It slides on but sits very loose. I never had a problem with it untill i installed my dump tube. Now everytime i hit boost it blows it off the pin so basically if i turn off the car it wont start and id have to jack it up lol. Ive searched and heard of other people having the same problem. Did anyone find a solution? I tried putting a dab of threadlock in it so we'll see if it can hold. thanks guys!
As I recall, there are only two wires connecting to the starter, the positive wire from the battery and the positive wire from the ignition switch. The smaller of the two connects to the ignition switch.
When you turn the key in the ignition switch to start, this smaller wire is energized and powers a coil on the starter that pulls in the solenoid slug which closes a contact that connects the starter directly to the battery. So, if the smaller wire falls off, the car won't start.
It is a spade connector that is on the end of the ignition switch wire. You can try carefully squeezing the female end with pliers to make a tighter fit. If that doesn't work you may buy new female connectors in almost any store that sells hardware, electrical, or automotive parts. Just cut off the old end and replace it.

^ problem*. and it's not a big problem just wanted to see if there's a fix for it. I don't want it as loose as it is anyways. Could come off anytime lol. Thanks barneyb, if all else fails I'll get a new female connector and crimp it tight.
