this is crazy!

Runs fine then it will just stop running. Here's the story. 2.3 on SD for about 16 months. on the freeway last month cruising and it sputters, drive for about a mile and the RPMs drop and it stops running. I pull over to the side of the road. turn the key and it goes bah, try it again and the same sound. My thoughts...fuel pump. So I get a new DW 301. Runs 6 days and the same issues. So I hard wire it to the battery. Same deal, so I get an adjustable FPR. Same thing. New crank sensor, and cam sensor.....new battery....it's in the boot. Cleaned all grounds. Same issues????? I've been told that it maybe a ground problem. I've had the battery in the boot for three years. Any ideas mates? I have no more hair left!!!

Try adding another ground if you think its the issue/eliminate that from being a issue. I had one come loose one time that liked to drove me crazy on my 1g. Took a while to trace down. After that it had 2 more ground points separate from each other.

This happened to me last weekend. I'm on the highway headed to Evolution Dynamics, car suddenly loses power and dies. I try to start it again and it cranks forever but never fires. I get it towed to Evo Dynamics, Kevin gets in, and it starts right up for him. We tune for awhile, then when trying to restart the car it does it again. He takes the fuel pump hanger out and we see that the one of the wires in the harness that plugs into it is loose/falling out. We swap it out, all is well so far.

You say you're hardwired to the battery though, so IDK...

Plugs are brand new...tight.......running speed density.....can hear the pump running when the issues start...let it sit for an hour it so, and it fired up and runs for about an hour and the symptoms starts all over again.. Shuts off.....

What sensor besides the crank sensors controls spark? I've replaced the CPS. DO THE 2005 usdm Evo 8 or any of the evolutions have ignition control modules, or anything that controls ignition that heat may effect? Thanks for the help people. I really appreciate it!!!
