Appraiser
I have an Evo 9 MR SE that I need to get a "Prior to accident appraisal" on for the insurance company. I feel the insurance company is low balling me and this is the only way to get a fair price. If you are an appraiser or know of a good appraiser please let me know. I am not looking to screw the insurance company I just want a fair price.
The insurance company tells me you dont even need to be an "appraiser" per say. You just need to be qualified in the field of vehicles (it helps to have experience in the specific vehicle as well), not be associated in any way with the owner of the vehicle, and be willing to put together a formal appraisal.
I will pay to have this done! Please let me know ASAP! Thanks, Trever

Also when my moto was involved in an accident (fairing scratches mostly, and rim dings, one leaky fork, and left bar scrapes), he declared it a total loss on a 03 R6 - insurance offered me 5,000 or before they took it from me they would offer me a buy back option which was 1,200 and cut the check for the difference ($3,800). I opted to buy back and walk away with 3,800.
It kind of all depends on whats damaged and how much labor cost are going to be. Are you trying to keep the car or are you trying to get as much as you can for it? Have you thought about taking their offer + buy back the car from them? That worked out as the best option for me with my moto. To me scratches and wheel curbage wasn't worth accepting the 5k offer, I was much happier with the buy back offer + check.

1. How the heck much did they offer you?
2. DO NOT accept an offer that YOU don't think is the right price.
Call some Evo experts. Some major tuning shops may be able to help?
Otherwise... car appraisers probably aren't well versed in Evos, but one that does their hw properly may be of assistance to you. At the very least, they'd be able to guide you to someone else?

They offered him $23k, more than a fair starting price. Insurance companies don't care if the car is bone stock or modified, they will treat it the same.
You may think your car is worth $29-32k, but I can guarantee you won't find more than one or two odd-ball high-priced evo's to base that price on

Find ANY Evo IX MR SE with 20,000 miles on it! Mods...okay just not a complete rebuild! And let me know how much your looking at? Guaranteed it will be a heck of a lot more than $23,000!

wrong...I bought mine for 23k with about 35k miles on it. You are getting a VERY good price from them. You aren't going to get what you will pay for a new one, but that is pretty damn close.
