The grey piece is held in by 4 screws iirc.

The easiest way to get it out is to remove the carbon fiber dash trim piece (I typically take off my gauge surround as well since it gives me a grip on the trim). Then once thats out (just pressure fittings) there are 2 screws for the grey piece on the top of said grey piece (under the CF trim piece) and pull the knobs straight out and loosen those screws.

Make sense?
