Of course the freaking 1 car owner one got sold this morning. I guess I still have to wait like 3 days for my insurance check but still... And what's so scary about the black one that is modded? All the mods sound like things that you guys do... At least from what I've read. The wheels being painted black is childish and it needs a new spoiler Thrown on... But nothing crazy besides that IMO

The car you're looking at has had 5 owners in 52,000 miles, a turbo swap, cams, an exhaust header, it has no suspension, blah, blah, blah. That's assuming there's nothing seriously wrong with it, mechanically, and it's one hell of an optimistic assumption. You have a limited budget, a baby on the way, you need/want a reliable car, and you know virtually nothing about this platform. Where in all of this do you envision a positive outcome?

For one I'm very mechanically inclined. Has coil overs too. I have an idea on the platform.
I guess I could just drive it to see how good it really is. I just feel like I can't find the right damn evo. It's making me mad lol.

Point is, if it breaks I have the tools and skill to fix it. And have a good savings if I need to buy parts.

If you have a good saving account, then why not buy a good Evo to begin with and what's all this talk about needing a reliable car? Hell, buy whatever you want.

Edit: There are ~20,000 CT9A Evolutions in the US. At least 80% have been screwed up in one way or another. This leaves ~4,000 cars in the entire country. About half of those are higher mileage, so now you're down to ~2,000 cars. If you want a good Evo, you may have to travel. That's just how it goes.

You may also want to check the classifieds on this site. At the very least you'll be able to read the sellers past posts and see how the car really is.

Evo 9. Talked to the guy. Has two owners. Light scratch on rear left bumper. Few rock chips. And all mods are suspension and bracing besides head studs. Owned by a doctor. Doubt it had the **** driven out of it. 4 hour drive also.

Head studs on a stock motor? Why? Owned by a doctor who wouldn't drive it hard - why not? There also a bridge in Brooklyn for sale at the moment.

Best case, it was someone's track car.

Hmm. Idk. But if it's not tuned and souped up maybe it just got turned back to stock. Used car buying is always a mystery.

Might be a little bit too far, but take a look

I've got a 2005 MR, GG, just clicked 50K miles. It's modded, have a look at my profile for a list of the mods or PM me.. All the mods were installed at AMS in west chicago. The car was trailered up there and back (to Florida). She's as solid now as when she was stock. A joy to drive and I did fit two baby car seats in the back. Now she's a garage queen, I take her once every couple of weeks to run her around town and wash her, but she really needs a younger owner.

Just so you get an idea of what mods have been done; Power is at 519 hp on MS109, or conservative street driving tune at 450 hp on 93 octane.

Have all receipts and build plan in a binder and 95% of all stock parts in storage.

She's cherry! Good luck with your search PM if interested, will be putting her up for sale this weekend.

I'd wait it out for the right car. I did and found a one owner 2003 with only 10k on it back in 2008. It wasn't overpriced either. Completely stock too. Something to be said for a one owner car with minimal/no mods.

A car with multiple owners that's been modded would concern me.

Too bad about the Cooper. I have an R50. Glad to see all those airbags doing thier jobs!
