XS Engineering ignition amplifier opinions

All right, I've searched high and low and think that I've done my homework in regards to this topic. Now, I've read all the posts about how the stock ignition system is good enough for a stock turbo configuration evo with your typical bolt ons and tune, and that the only cars that will really benefit from an ignition amplifier are the high horsepower cars that run into spark blowout and whatnot. Then there are the guys that say that these ignition amplifiers actually give you a better idle and reduce knock, etc.

I know that it supposedly won't hurt the car to install one, and that its my choice if its worth the money or not. My situation is that a friend of mine is selling a brand new XS Engineering amplifier to me for $20, which I know is a good deal. I'm just trying to figure out if it's even worth my time to install it. Will having one of these speed up the wear and tear of my stock coils? Any opinions from the gurus here? Thanks.
