at a modding crossroads..

Okay guys i just finished a e85 tune with mellon and i'm sort of at a fork in the road. i'm definitely thinking that i want to save up for an FP turbo for sure. However, i can't decide if i want to do the ported intake/exhaust/tb parts. Do you guys think it is worth it? I am on a stock block so i probably won't want more than ~420tq. I am still on the stock intake tube and a POS muffler with a high flow cat. I am going to do a test pipe, buschur muffler, and hard intake tube this winter with head studs This should yield some gains. So i guess i am curious should i just do the turbo, o2 housing and things like that or should i also do the ports? I know the porting yields gains but if i am going to be at the torque cut off point already then wouldn't it be pointless? just curious

If I could go back to the beginning of having my car, I would have seriously had the shortblock built first. Or have at least done a set of drop-ins.

In my case, trying to keep the TQ down has pushed the graph farther to the right than it otherwise should be, which ultimately means more lag than my setup should have.

Luckily, my stock bottom end has lasted without going bang, but, it is going to get built this winter.

I see you already had the T-case done, which would have been another thing I would have suggested.

If you plan on sticking with the stock internals I would suggest ported exhaust manifold, o2 housing, I would leave the intake manifold alone and just the high pressure throttle shaft seals on the throttle body. The stock intake manifold and throttle body have been shown to be good to over 500whp. With the HKS cams the IM and TB are not usually the limiting factor. I also went with a built block while I was on the stock turbo so I chose to go with the side of caution and have a good foundation to build on.

okay so maybe an exhaust mani port, o2 housing, and fp green/red set up @30-32 psi on e85 with head studs also being installed. That should be a pretty good set up and if i ever went built motor it could get stepped up then I think once i get rid of the stock intake boot i should pick up some good power for the buck. I know at 30 psi that rubber pos is restricting me to death
