Heater only blows warm air. Thoughts?

I searched up and down for a thread on this and didn't get anywhere.

My car blows warm air when heat is on full blast. I replaced the TSB Link and Lever Kit and installed a cabin filter awhile ago (and the heat worked great after the install). The coolant is fresh, etc. I just got the car back from a head gasket install and the heater only blows warm air.

Any thoughts?

you more than likely need a new thermostat, or there is air in the system.

It's actually brand new lol. However, it is a 63C t-stat from Mishimoto. I suppose it's too cold for hot air to blow, as it opens before the car gets hot?

Anyone else run a 63C Thermostat and have the heat blow warm?

I'm guessing that's my issue, as it didn't happen before I put the new thermostat in.

I'll rip the OEM Thermostat out of my parts car tomorrow and give her a try. My Mustangs always blew hot with 160* t-stats, but then again, that's a bit of a different application.

Thanks for the help

i wonder what the difference is between 03 and 06 thermostats...
anyway i'll check with mitsubishiparts too. how hard is it to swap out thermostats? do you have to flush the coolant etc?

Hmmm. I was almost positive that the 8 and 9 T-Stats were the same. I personally would just drain a little coolant from the Rad so the level is just under the height of the hose, if that makes sense. It's extremely easy to swap your thermostat, as it's essentially just the four bolts for the cap of the thermostat housing.

Here's the Service Manual procedure:
