Weird angle into fuel tank

I tried searching around for this but after a few random searches and not knowing what to call it I figured this is the best bet. This is also my first thread so I'll introduce myself if that is okay here. I'm from the sticks out here in NW PA and I recently picked up a 03 AS with only 37k miles for a daily driver and something more practical than my talon so I am familiar with the scene. The 8 is definitely a step up in handling from the talon but no where near as fast... yet.

Anywho.. So the first time I actually filled my tank I was standing there pumping waiting for the click and nothing. I hear spilling and look down and see it was still pumping after all the way full. No worries though, pulled out a spare rag and some cleaning supplies in the trunk and got it all cleaned up before hitting the car wash.

Now today when I went to fill it up again and noticed the bend in the actual pump nozzle is so far off from the neck of the tank that it doesn't want to sit down in all the way basically preventing it from knowing when it is full. I am now afraid every time I pull that trigger thinking it is going to spray back out and it is a PITA not being able to top off my tank.

Anyone else have this issue or any ideas on what is causing it?

The nozzle goes into my filler straight. So something is out of whack there - maybe some minor collision damage not completely fixed.

If it was, it was never reported and they did a damn good job covering it.

I will try to snag a picture of it because the way it sits back in the quarter panel itself seems like it was doomed from the start. From the actual fender to the inlet it is probably what, two inches? That and the bend of the nozzle isn't even 45 degrees and a few inches long it just seems like it will never fit.

One of our e85 pumps won't cutoff when the tank is full so it might just be that station you went to because it has never happened to me but one time.

I noticed that mine doesn't go in 100% either. It doesn't spill out, but it's definitely not perfect. I believe it's due to a collision.
