They could have accidentally just turned it off on you when they tuned it, my old tuner simply unchecked it once on accident. Could be as simple as that.

ehh idk since this was known before with the previous owner and ttp looked at it and didnt figure it out and the tuner at AWD played around with it and made sure it was on and checked the sensors that could be causing the problem but it wasn't either of the sensors

03 evos i know for sure do not come with the two step and im fairly certain 04s and 05s didnt come with it either. what about the neutral postion safety switch? maybe that has something to do with it? if you dont know what that is, try starting the car with it in neutral without pressing the clutch in. if it starts that is either out or not hooked up. just an idea.

OP, there are 2 clutch switches on your pedal btw. the lower one is to start the car. there is an additional one above the pedal, follow the pedal to the top and you should feel a switch. it's the clutch input sensor(this activates 2step). should be a 2 wire switch if it's the same as the evo 8's.

like i said look for an evo 9 ecu plug diagram and find the switch, something like this. for the 05's my switch was #43 and it was moved to #44 for some reason. i moved it back and got mine to work correctly.

03/04 USDM evo 8's - 2-step setting is higher than rev limiter so it doesn't effectively work unless you change it in the tune.

05+ USDM evo 8/9's all have it setup properly from the factory.

Yea possibly but the tuner at AWD said it was still at 5500 and I tried to engage 2-step one day and I revved to like 7+ by accident

Car is back at the shop getting a new primary O2 sensor. And I'm having them check the two step again. They said there is only one clutch sensor and it's working and so is the speed sensor. So I have no idea what's wrong. Should I take it to the stealership?

That might be my last option if there is no way to have the stock one work.

For the pin out of the ecu, is that under the dash on the driver side? And does anyone think that taking it to a Mitsubishi dealership and have them mess with it?
