Help plz!!
My evo 8 went into an irrigation ditch and sat for about 3 hrs til I got it towed and the water was up to the bottom of the steering wheel. The engine immediately shut off when it hit the water. I have no clue what is still good on the car. The engine could very well be hydrolocked but I'm not for sure. Anyways I'm trying to sell it for as much as I can. Any suggestions on what I should do? It needs new interior too. Should I sell it? Keep it and spend an arm and a leg on rebuilding it? If sold, how much should I expect to get?? Any help would be much appreciated!! Cody...
I couldnt tell you about how much its worth until you find out exactly whats wrong for sure, but all i know is i feel really bad for you , im sorry about what happened, id be crying if it happened to me =( insurance wont help or anything? idk how stock it is, but u can also sell the parts too and try to get some money back that way
Whats going with insurance? Im pretty sure in most cases like this, considering the water went up that high, it'd be considered a total loss. Engine may or may not be hydrolocked. Your first step should be to find this out. DO NOT try to start your car. Tow it to a shop and they can try to hand crank the engine to see if it will still turn. If it turns, engine might still be good. Then there has to be a lot of work done to get water out of anywhere and everywhere that it could have possibly gotten into before even attempting to start the engine. I ruined a good engine by starting my car a day after it had sat in water up to half the height of the wheels. Car started fine and shot water out of the exhaust. But once i gave it gas, it sucked water from the intake and hydrolocked the engine.
Then even if the engine still works you have to worry about all of the issues that can arise from of all of the components' exposure to water. Electrical problems, corrosion issues, interior mildew problems, etc. Then of course if you try to sell it youre obligated to tell them that it was flooded and you'd have to sell it for dirt cheap for anyone to even consider buying it. It's for sure a very sucky situation. Good luck

Crap.. well thanks for all the input guys it definitely helped. I unfortunately only had liability at the time so I'm kinda screwed on that. It has and Act heavy duty clutch, Rhys Millen Racing exhaust, Greddy BOV, H&R coils, walbro fuel pump, brand new kumho ASX tires, engine only had 70,xxx miles on it. Bodys in good shape though. Well I guess ill just get what I can for it and take the loss
Although I do have my eye on real nice TB 9 SE
