Spark Tech issues
Spark Tech issues
Hello everyone, I need your help. I recently bought an Evo 8 and wanted to see if the last owner has replaced the spark plugs, so I started with the passengers side spark plug. I unscrewed the screw (circled in yellow) but after unscrewing for 2 mins. i noticed the screw wasnt coming out
so i started to tighten it and the screw didnt tighten at all. So now i have a screw that doesnt come out and doesnt screw in.
I dont want to try the other ones for I might end up with 4 jacked up screws.
I was wondering if im doing this the right way, anyone who has spark tech installed had this problem?

The valve cover is made of magnesium and is a soft lightweight metal. A few of the threaded holes that keep the ignition bolted down on mine were getting like that, but I just got longer bolts and some washers. If the bolts are over tightened, this will happen.
The bolt you circled looks like one that helps keep the coil attached to the plate, and not necessarily the plate to the valve cover. If it's anything like the SpoolinUp COP kit, there are only 2 bolts holding the plate to the valve cover: the bolts between coil #1 and 2, and the bolt between #3 and 4. Just unbolt those 2 and the entire assembly should come right up.
