that is untrue, US OEM glass is manufactured by only 3 companies. my neighbor replaces windshields by profession, ive had mine replaced three times. i only paid 150 installed. the only difference is mitsubishi stamps it, other than that aftermarket glass is IDENTICAL.

It is the same glass! Even the dealer looked it up for me and it was the same!
The side windows are thinner...
Dude they would not make the front glass thinner because it would break easier. They have to have it a certain thickness for safety.
I checked quite a few places and made them check for EVO glass. When they looked it all came up under Lancer. Everyone including the dealer said the Lancer and Evo glass is exact for the WINDSHIELD.

I had my rear window replaced...
The glass is lighter than and has a different part # than stock lancer glass. the glass is not US OEM, it had product of japan stamped on it. the glass alone cost like 400. If you dont care about having thinner glass, by all means get the regular lancer glass. let it be said that the evo glass is lighter, but also breaks pretty easily... mine broke from having a 10 yr old throwing a grape sized rock through it.

I even measured the thickness of the Origional one when it took it out compared to the new one he put in. He thought i was nuts but I said just making sure it is the same.
front windshields are mandated by DOT, all others are mandated by NHTSA. front windshields have a legal obligation to be a certain thickness and crash-shattering rating. they are identical among manufacturers of all cars sold in the US. (shaped differently of course) but identical as far as composition. sides and back, can be different.
