Really Juicy Gossip
Really Juicy Gossip
Just talked to Ron Nelson, (local guy with E7 RS) Tha frickin car was gorgeous, back seat out, roll cage, Carborelli (sp?) seats. UTec engine management that raised the redline from 7g to 8g and dropped out the speed governor, lowered 3 inches still from Pikes Peak hill climb. Anywayz, he was saying that US will receive Evo 8's but the rest of the world will get something different. As for differences he said he wasn't sure, but probably look for it not to have brembo's or ayc or acd as it appears on the 7's and the rest of the world's 8's. This was done to hit the target price. He said there are a "few" 8's already taken delivery of in the southern U.S. but that he couldn't get an 8 if he tried through his Ralliart connects. Not such good news. But I got too see a rally prepped evo vii tonight..
oh yeah, ladyg was with me and can coroborate. (sp?) Gawd Damn that car was fine. Oh yeah, the instrument gauge is the same with the exception that the vii redlines at 7g stock, and goes to 180 on the speedometer. it isn't white on orange but black on orange in the RS too. I was wrong about the turbo guage. Other interesting things he told me, at the top of Pikes Peak the car weighed 3,000 lbs. and had 140 or less horses. So if he was on top of a mountain and ran a trap I may have a chance at sea level against an Evo.
umm, must shut up now.

well if the 8's were out there already we would have seen pics and such all over the place,
they dont cost that much they dont have to drop anything to keep it in the projected price range like i can go buy a new EVO7 in japan for ~33k

not necessarily, if all the 8 is is a 7 with a new front fascia and some interior stuff, people might have seen it without even knowing yet. From the whole sound of it all tho I think importing a 7 GSR is probably the best bet.

no you wouldn't. Test cars with manf. plates are always seen before the release. I saw two 2003 vipers this weekend with tha good ol detroiter plates on them in a pack with two matching aprilla mille's in Durango, CO. All I'm saying is, the car may have been delivered early to a few special clients and an article wouldn't be out. I have every reason in the world to believe this source.
