Speed density: can i use the stock intake pipe

im going speed density this weekend before my tune...i want to know if the stock pipe will work fine...i run my bov recir and dont want to vta and i dont really want to spend money on a new intake pipe if i dont have to...ive read on these forums that an aftermarket intake pipe only messes with the idle and makes tthe turbo louder and doesnt really make power...id rather have the drivability of the stock tube...will it work?

Yes you can use the OEM tube with SD.

When people say the tube affects driveability they are still using the MAF. When you are on SD it will have no affect.

You can build your own intake for fairly cheap.
1. 2.5" to 4.0" 45degree silicone coupler : $25 shipped via eBay
2. 3" long 4" ID aluminum pipe : $14 shipped via eBay
3. eaau4090 Amsoil filter : about $50

I spent $86 and have a very high flow intake. Although I don't believe it will work with the factory UICP.

Good luck!

One thing to keep in mind though is if you have the car tuned on SD, and you change your intake tube afterwards there is a chance that it will effect your tune... If the new tube is less(or more) restrictive than the stock tube then you will see a change in the system's Volumetric Efficiency which will in turn effect the SD table... On a stock framed turbo I can't see it making a huge difference unless you are pushing it to the max... but its still worth keeping the thought in the back of your head..
