Got an Evo 8 that's making a similar noise to this of what I found on youtube. Stock motor with mild cams, 60k miles.

What could the noise be? Knock sensors pick it up as stupid values of knock (36s all over the place). Has anyone heard it before?

Car runs normal on idle, drives normally on cruise and handles boost (owners words) normally, but at transition points of getting on the gas - or just quickly revving it while stationary, there will be a huge knock sum spike and a sound like the one in the video. Sound is rhytmic and only happens under load. Holding the engine at 2.5k 3k 3.5k or whatever rpm won't produce the sound.

My friends Evo had almost the same noise. its was a rod that was cracked. It would only make noise when is was reved just a little. Best advice is go to a shop specialized in Evo and let them hear it. It might just be a valve or something to.
