thanks - when my subie had a wheel bearing issue though, it was fairly consistent - is it possible that it's wheel bearing even if the sound is intermittent?

that is a little odd, one would think it would be constant

Thanks for all the tips - don't just listen to the noise but consider the conditions too. It's at low speed steady state, typically more pronounced when hotter. Doesn't matter if I'm in gear or not as long as I'm rolling. I actually get a burble/pop from the exhaust once in a while that's pretty similar but I think the situation is different when it occurs. Must be something that happens as something in the drivetrain is turning, and not necessarily the engine
Doesnt sound like a wheel bearing...
Wheel bearing wear/ issues get more pronounced with speed and normally when turning left to right you will hear a louder groan as you are loading up the wear/play on the race.. I personally dont think its a wheel bearing but I would definently check out you suspension first...
Lift wheel up shake wheels up and down and side to side.. see if any play/slack is felt when doing so... if so get someone to check were the play is coming from.. also check out your sway bar links, grab your sway bar and push up and down, no play should be present...
Good luck and definently let us know what the outcome is

just as added info, were you on a bumpy road, or a smooth flat road?
Also is it the groan or the poping noise that is of concern?

popping noise - doesn't matter, smooth bumpy (then it would be the road/suspension) it can be smooth. like i said it's intermittent but sitting in low speed traffic for about 20 minutes and it will go crazy - but i think anything that gets the car hot gets the sound going.

it's not the rear diff cuz it'll make sound when the car is going straight, it sounds/feels like its coming from around where the t-case is/almost in between the driver and front passenger but closer to the passenger. it has different levels of intensity from "did you just hear a light popping?" to "what the hell is this i can feel it through the bottom of the car"

Kyoo, did you ever find the problem? Sorry to bring this back but I'm at my wits end with my popping noise. I've replaced about every part on my front end to no avail. The driveshaft is about my last option.

I'm not sure cause the video is gone but the symptoms sounds the same. The biggest thing that caught my attention was the fact that it gets worse with heat. I've had this noise intermittently for about 2 years and I never hear it during the winter.

Yep. I had a bad passenger side bearing and I replaced both front axles with DSS axles. I'm just going to try the driveshaft bushings next, they're pretty sloppy.

I'm just thinking, colder temps = stiffer bushings.
