Question Hooking up a LED light to the CEL signal??

I am really bugged by the fact that my steering gauge pod is blocking my view of CEL (for knocking warning purpose), therefore, I'm wondering if I can hook up an external led light (blue, red, whatever color) by tapping it to the "Service Engine Soon" light fuse??

Would that make the led flash as the CEL goes off? Has anyone done something like that b4??

If that works, perfect, then I can keep my steering pod and won't lose sight of any knock warning. And I can just mount the led right in front of me, so I won't miss a single knock warning...hahaha...

Please help......

Can someone at least tell me if this is doable? All i really want to do is hook up a led to the CEL fuse/wire, and have the led flashes whenever the CEL flashes. Can it be done??

Did you ever figure this out? I just got a steering wheel pod and can't see when/if I'm knocking.

Nope, but I've got a better solution - Ashtray gauge pod!!

One of my local evobuddies is able to fab an ashtray gauge pod and it's been working like a champ!! Since I am already able to log my AEM with evoscan, i don't have to stare at it all much, therefore, this locaton works out best for me and my need!! More importantly, i am now able to get a full view of my cluster panel once again and I really missed it for long!!

The pod is very sturdy and fits well - easy install and removal too. If anyone is interested, i can ask him to post his contact info on here.

That's pretty awesome. I'll keep that in mind if I decide to move my WB. Right now I have my boost gauge in the steering wheel pod and I like being able to see it clearly.

You might be able to rig something up. The way i would think you would have to do it is open that dash up pull out the cluster panel look behind it to find the CEL solder points on the back of the circuit board, then find out the voltage, if it is the same voltage that is required for the LED then solder two wires from the circuit board and route them where you want it. Otherwise you will need a relay that will power the LED when triggered by the CEL.
