Vinyl Wrapped Evo's (cars) how well does it hold up for DD?

I been really looking into wrapping my car, but trying to find out how well itll hold up on a daily driven car that sits in the sun (no garage).

Ive seen really nice wraps, but spotted a few area's that were lifting, or showing a little of bubble mainly on the front bumper where it had most curves and road abuse i suppose. Trying to find out if that was due to bad prep work, or if this kind of thing is expected but an easy fix.

Any info appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you want to use a resin first, then lay the wrap over and use a heat gun to bond the two for a super smooth surface. The resin will prevent it from lifting but it's a lot of work from what I see, plus the wrap costs a lot and so much of it ends up wasted. I've been looking into this quite a bit but maybe someone that's done this can chime in. I got a quote to have it done, $4k.

If i get my car wrapped, ill be doing the wrapping. Already done a bunch of smaller pieces that had a LOT of curves in them, and am confident ill do a great job on wrapping my car. Hardest part is the front bumper.

I would personally never pay someone 4000$ to get a wrap done, way to pricey imo. I'll look into resin products, thanks for the tip.

a new shop opened up by me and offered to do it for $1100 using 3M Vinyl. I think they are trying to build a name because that is a cheap *** price. But Im also trying to find out more info from people who have had it done.

That is def a great price, considering the vinyl itself cost anywhere from 500-700$+ for a full car wrap by 3m, depending on what you need done. Me personally, im not touching my carbon hood or trunk, and have roof painted black which im not wrapping either, so i can probably get away with their 30foot roll for 500$ i think it was by 60" wide.

You'll want to read up on some of the UK Evo forums. Wrapping is pretty big over there and I know of one company that does a ton of DD Evos. They have some pretty tough weather too, so anything that survives the UK should be good in Canada too.

That has to be close to cost on materials. How to videos on this are all over youtube, it's not hard at all to do you just need patience. I'm wrapping my hood and front bumper until I feel comfortable enough to paint them.

Another thought is if you have a bunch of rock chips like I do, you might have to DA them or the wrap is going to start bubbling at those air pockets.

For the cost of these wraps why wouldn't you just do paint?

did they offer you and your family a reach around? that is seriously ridiculous that they could even say $4,000 !!!!!!

highest i saw was $1,500 and i thought that was a rip off. you do realize that your talking about 5-600 for the materials for the best 3m stuff right? id never pay some morons $3,500 to do that. thats a 2.4 LR with mivec head (used head) kind of pricing

Go talk to a real car shop, not some cheap corporate collision shop. A good wrap will cost you around $4000. Since reading this post yesterday I've checked with 3 other shops and they all quoted me between $3000-$4000.

But with a wrap you can say it's never been painted and there won't be questions if you go to ever sell the car. Wrap will also preserve the paint, a new paint job will just get more chips and scratches, wrap won't chip.

Makes me wonder. If the rocks are hitting the paint strong enough to cause chips, wont those same rocks tear the wrap ?

I don't know man wrap is pretty thick and paint is easy to chip.

i still dont see what the difference is if i put it on compared to a show. also the evo doesnt have many complex curves so its much easier then a porsche or something. and yes i can buy that same adhesive for $50 and use it on the edges...

i talked to a REAL shop too, actually one of the biggest sign shops in south florida Kauff Signs and they have wrapped over 500 cars. $1,500 for 3m matte finish wrap and labor.
