exedy twin limits

about one year ago i wanted to go with a mid power fast spooling setup, so i took the car to buschur's and went with a br 2.3 stroker, stg3 head, fp-red, brand new 5sp swap and exedy twin. when i picked the car up i was super happy cause the car feels great and is crazy fast on 93oct!

i put less then 4k miles on this setup and i want to change things up a bit and shoot for more power with high boost and e85, im going with a br forward facing hta86 1.03 a/r turbo kit and few other mods but my problem is i just put in a exedy twin $2k clutch thats been babied for less then 4k miles.

should i keep the twin and hope for the best? or do i have to pull the trans and convert the twin to a triple cause the twin wont hold 600 on a mustang dyno

the car will not be a drag car and will not be launched! need some advice on this please

John

Is it a HD twin or standard?

The HD is good to about 600ft/lbs of torque, You should be okay on your setup

oh sry i forgot to add that it is a exedy twin HD but i thought it was rated 535 at the flywheel?

do you think if the car is not launched it will last? i would really hate for it to die on the dyno while being tuned with the new setup!

I just installed the Exedy Twin HD in my Evo VIII. I spoke to Exedy last week on how far I could go with it and they said that clutch was good to 615 torque at the wheels.

They rate the numbers at the crank. There is no way a twin will handle 615 wtq

You can sell your twin and upgrade for a reasonable price, that way you have piece of mind.

you can convert to the triple for $950 or less.

i can tell you in MY experience at 530wtq, my BRAND NEW twin lasted maybe 6 launches. my traps went from kept getting slower and slower.

switched to the triple and my first past outdid my previous best trap by 2 or 3 mph and my ET by .3 seconds in the 1/8th mile

so i would say, you can stick with the twin if you don't plan on launching at all...but have a triple fund set aside for when the time comes

seems pretty accurate on the twin section for drag racing from my experience. clutch was a dream on the street, but couldn't take many launches.
