Loud bang!

I am in the process of buying an evo, I test drove a 2006 MR, when shifting from second to third (redline) a loud bang&jerk comes from the back of the car, like someone threw a rock in the trunk. Its not a backfire.

I don't think this is normal, could it be the rear diff? No whine from tc.

Its normal if your trying to shift fast. Its a awd so you have a lot more moving parts. Mine did this too, you can replace the rear end bushing with poly ones or do a mustache bar delete. If you are not doing fast shifts then its not normal. Mine does it also just learn to drive it.

its the sound of the rear diff kicking when you shift fast and hard happens especially if you drop the clutch a little too fast
