Here we go again, for crying out loud !

Glad you want to spend twice the money for a zero difference filter from most any other AJ.

I have been using fram filters most of the time I have had cars and I have had ZERO failures because of them. No I'm not a youngster either. Lots of miles logged.

To the OP as long as it is an oem replacement you will be fine. If you want to waste your money go ahead and buy a filter from Mitsu.

waste money; what's a filter cost? i honestly don't even think about it, usually buy 5+ at a time. I'm guessing about $6-$8?

I "waste" wayy more than that on amsoil z-rod, changed after any trip to the track, and I have to fill an AMS oil pan's capacity. an oil filter seems like chump change in the grand scheme of maintaining an Evo...

Any OEM replacement filter will work fine. I prefer to use a filter with metal end caps and synthetic filtering media.

Just do a google search on oil filter testing there are a few nice detailed ones floating around.
