Some goodies on the way, HTA71, Comp Clutch

So after attending the shootout and seeing what some of these DD IX's are capable of, I got the itch. Currently I have basic mods on my IX MR:

3" TBE
340 pump
680's
ETS 3.5 "wide" FMIC
AEM WB
Tephra V7
Injen intake/IC piping
Grimmspeed MBC

She's fun and fast, but of course, I want a little more but I also need to respect the stock block and stock 6 speed. She's still on the factory OEM clutch at 75k so I know my time with that is limited. So, I picked up the following:

HTA71 upgrade with 84mm compressor
FP Intake for 84mm cover
FP oil feed line from OFH with red filter, just for insurance
Competition stage 2 clutch, OEM t/o bearing, STM clutch fork stop, and STM clutch line.
TiTek recirc O2 housing, used from a great member here on the forums

I will install the turbo and O2 housing myself and get a rough, safe tune on it at 18-19 psi. Then on October 12th, I'll drive her up to Boostin Performance for the clutch install and most importantly, a Devin Tune. I'm hoping for 375 awhp on stock cams, pump gas. I'm more about reliability and consistency than hitting a number so please spare me the "you could do that on your stock turbo" jazz. I know this, but I feel like this setup will be better overall and safer considering it is a pretty mild upgrade.

After spring, my plan is to go to some ID1000s, Kelford 272s + valvetrain upgrades, and a dual tune for E85 to really make this puppy sing. At that point I'd love to see 400 whp in DD trim, and 450 on the corn. I have E85 pumps relatively close but they're about 20 minutes out of the way at least. Still, it would be nice to have the option to fill it up with that when I get the itch.

So, how'd I do?

Awesome choices! The competition stage 2 clutches are being used more and more, which is good to know...I suggest you get a new flywheel with it. Good luck!

Let me know what you think of the HTA71.

And if you're buying the turbo new, don't forget to have it ported. And if you use your coupon from the Shootout, you can get 5% off FP turbos.

The comp clutch is great, shifts well, and handles launches good too. Def a good choice there.

Me either, 6 weeks seems like a long time but we've just got a ton going on between now and then. I sent Kristin a question that I should probably ask here too - is there any harm in doing a fresh clutch install on Friday and then tuning it on Saturday? I'm guessing it should be ok if we can put some around-town miles on the clutch before hand and it's not like we'll be launching it, but was just curious.

We're going to resurface the stocker. I'm not sure if you're suggesting a lightweight FW or not but I've had them in the past and do not want another

Craig, this is the upgrade version so the hotside is my stock turbine housing. Unfortunately since it's my DD I won't have an opportunity to send it out for porting but that's ok, I've had 68HTAs on DSMs ported and unported and honestly don't think I could have picked one out of a lineup if I had to. I mentioned the shootout to Amber, I'll have to ask her if she gave me the 5%

English's review and all of the other positive reviews of it on here are what pushed me that way over the ACT HD. From what I understand the HD clutches are really good as well but the Comp is noticeably less expensive and I honestly haven't seen a bad or even "meh" review of it, every one has been glowing.

On the 6 speed, I'm sure Devin will treat her right with respect to timing and torque. The way I look at it, the limits of the 6 speed and the limits of the stock block are virtually the same so either way I'm limited in what we can ultimately put down but that's fine, this car will see a pass or two at the track and that's about it. Otherwise it's just for pure DD enjoyment

The comp clutch is a great clutch, just a bit smelly lol. It seriously doesn't take much for it to stink, and it's quite potent a smell.

400 whp would be tough with your setup on pump, but with corn it will hit 400 for sure.Your injector is a bit small for e85 you will need a 780 cc min.

Im going to a hi-z 1000-ish injector prior to an E85 tune.
