Increase in FP turbo pricing
lol, It's pretty sad you can get a FF Manifold and a PTE 6262 together for $100 cheaper than a brand new FP Red

It may be cheaper to have a manifold and 6262, but to actually run that, you need EVERYTHING else to change... for a Stock frame from FP, you need the turbo, new oil lines, and possibly a j-pipe. And nothing more. To run a FF Setup you need to drop a few thousand more to run it
I was able to buy a used hot parts kit for 1450. Then a few hoses/coupler and a either used or a new percision turbo. I was able to put a kit together for 2900 (standard facing). That is only $400 more than the stock frame BB turbos and that does not include tax on the new stock frame. The tax would close that gap even more.
I guess I understand why so many shops are switching now...

Anything else...but mostly as Jay said.
STM is trying the EF3 and I seem to see more and more Precision turbos being used. Many are still using the FP turbos they had and many are still selling them as fast as they can (vending not giving them up). Though there seems to be a recent trend to try new turbo manufactures where a FP turbo was all that was used before. At least that is how it seems to me. I will have to do some more research.
Maybe it is because the Precision CEA line is the new kid on the block. I don't know. I still run an FP turbo but at this rate I will change to a different brand for my next turbo choice. The EFR is still practically vaporware although a few have trickled down. I think that once the EFR series is more available, it will cause even more people to try something new.
Just now looked at the Dyno results section and Drag racing section Precision turbos are dominating the lists so far. I figure once the EFR series is more available it will appeal more to the full tilt TA or road course guys.

Yea WTF with those things. So much talk around them then they only end up in a couple hands.
I still want on though
for the money you will spend on stock frame turbo and other stuff like tubular manifold, dp and etc
you might add couple $ and get t3/t4 turbo kit
I just switched from fp black to t3 kit. And i will never get stock frame turbo again

this is why i went with the s300sx FMW borg warner, its half the price and it can be rebuilt 30,000 miles down the road unlike those expensive fp turbos and it spools as good or better. $2199 for a hta3586? thats just crazy!!!!
Whats really messed up is the price gouge just because its an EVO. The FP Green for the DSM is cheaper than the FP Green for the EVO, even though the description says the DSM version has been upgraded to DSM specs. Pretty ridiculous.
Thats a falsehood. BW turbos are LAZY. A turbo should not need rebuilding after a million miles.

Yeah I don't really get why almost 2 years later the BW EFR turbo's are still hard to get.
PTE's prices are reasonable and the performance seems to be there so...........
