Stock IX - Low Boost

Just sorting through my new (to me) Evo and realized that my boost seems to be a bit low. I will hit a peak of about .8-9 bar and taper down to about .6-7 it seems. The car is stock from what I can tell. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for the response. I plan on getting a mbc in the next few months. Will I need to replace the boost pill if I get a mbc?

Also, I searched and can't seem find a place to buy the stock boost pill. Anyone have a link?

no boost pill with mbc, just run new vacuum line to/from it.

If you use a MBC or a 3port solenoid, no boost pills will be needed.

If you need to buy new stock lines with the factory boost pills, the dealership is the best place to get them. Or the used parts section.

Thanks for the responses. I will try calling the dealership.

Will running a lower boost level cause any issues with the factory tune? Also, does anyone by chance have a link to a picture of where the pill should be?

Thanks!

First, please dont bump your thread after only a few hours.

Next, you wont have any issues running the lower boost on the stock tune.

I dont have a link handy, but if you search, you will find it.

bringing the thread back to the top. i just confirmed that the car does have both pills in the lines, in the correct spots. what else could be causing low boost? Boost leak perhaps?

check all the vacuum lines, clamps, and gaskets? maybe a slow leak when you boost.

You have already been told the right thing(s) to do. Either:

1) Order a new factory vacuum/boost hose assembly(pills preinstalled) Or,

2) Install an MBC using new 4mm vacuum hoses w/o the pills.

I already have the new lines with the pills that I bought from a member here. I did not install the new ones as I was able to confirm that the original factory lines currently on the car had the pills in them.

I am going to do a boost leak test. I do not want to install a MBC until I can get the car boosting to stock levels.

If you can get your hands on another boost gauge, compare it's reading to your own. Yours may be off.

That was another thought that I had. The only problem is I dont have another boost gauge that I can use.

I have also searched and found a good amount of threads about the accuracy of the factory boost gauge. Most of them seemed to agree that they are decently accurate. I am only showing a peak of roughly .7-.8 bar which is roughly half of where it should be factory.
