Is this an authentic AMS intercooler?

I just got these pictures from a local seller and so far i'm not confident that this is an authentic AMS part. Help me out here please...

Looks like it to me. Remember, this is the previous version of the AMS intercooler, before they made cast end tanks.

the pic here has more welds than the one pictured by OP. Need closer pics.

Or, why don't you e-mail these pics to AMS? I'm sure they can figure it out.

The reason i have my doubts is because in the Intercooler on the AMS website there are 15 rows and the bottom of the stencil is painted on 5 rows up, this one appears to have 17 rows and the stencil on 6 rows up.

Another possibility, is the person that bought it, ordered it without the stencil, but then, later on, decided they wanted it, and painted it themselves.

I have an ams intercooler too, and it looks just like what you have there. Also remember the ams intercooler came in two sizes, standard and race... The race has a thicker core (almost 4" wide) and different fin layout

Thanks guys. I emailed Eric at AMS and he said that it doesn't appear to be one made by them since the 1st gen AMS intercoolers had welded endtanks. I'm glad I did this and asked around before committing to buy this. That would not have been good at all. Thanks for the advice and input everyone.

Edit: Before buying anything do your homework. Research and get 2nd opinions. The extra work could save your butt.

I agree, check with the boys at AMS. It's unfortunate they have a ton of replica's

Maybe get a picture of the internal fin pack. Most eBay cores have straight through internal fins.

Thanks,

Michael
