Another thing might be to get some rat/mouse traps if its going to be sitting or otherwise protect the underside from being made into a nest and you end up missing a couple of wires in the spring...

Thats a myth!

Why would you guys store the car on winter? Its a rally car, drive it its more fun. Its like having a supermodel girlfriend and being afraid of f$&@# her cause she'll get pregnant.
Im guessing the reason this guy is storing his evo thru the winter is the same as mine. One word, SALT!!!!
I live on WI where they have to use all the salt up no matter how much snow/ice is on the roads to keep their budget high. Salt eats cars alive around here. Plus even with awd when some of these cars are pushing 500+whp and tho it would be fun your gonna be sideways all the time. Ive put alota $ in mods into my car and the last thing i want is a pound of salt sitting on my turbo. Haha.
As for storing it, ive researched ALOT on putting your car on jacks and the conclusion ive drawn is that is isnt good for your struts to just hang there when their built to be compressed all the time anyways. I did it for one winter on my Gs-t a long time ago and my struts were never the same. Like said in previous posts just pump up yout tires over normal psi and I personally push the car back and forth a few times a month so that is sits on different spots on the tires.

You quoted a guy that lives in El Paso Texas... he won't understand what us Northerners have to deal with in the winter

second that WI winters is no paradise for a rally car no matter what it is. Unless you plan on getting your car washed inside everyday i suggest storing it lol

Never start your car until its warm cuz condensation WILL happen.
Top off your gas tank also.
Wax your car like never before cuz the first time in spring you take your car out you will love yourself for it. Plus if u have a car cover on it any dust that get in between that and your car surface will only be on the wax and not your paint.
I usually give it a fresh oil change. Some guys say to drain it but i thinks thats a catastrophe waiting to happen.
Pull your battery and out it in ur house. If its only stored a ~5 months it will be fine.
I put dryer sheets in my interior to address the mice issue plus it smells good i i crack my windows a touch to let it ventilate and moisture.
Ive been storing my car for ten plus years like this in WI and its never failed me.

Agreed not only that but I'm not paying $5000 for a paint job for fun lol. Might as well drive my jeep in the winter that I have about $9000 into rather than the evo which is probably nearing the 50-60,000 dollar mark. Call it what you may but I'm keeping this evo until I die or it falls apart

Amen. Thats why alot of evos are garage queens cuz well if ur on this site u realize the potential of these cars and know how much fun they are so the last thing I want to do is have one that is rusting out. I too will never sell mine. Ive owned alot of turbo cars, gst, 300zx tt and my evo by far trumps them all.

Yeah, it's a rally car! But you don't rally your rally car yet you come in here telling the OP to drive his Evo in winter since it's a rally car.

The OP is asking for tips on storing his Evo for winter. He is not asking for opinions whether he should drive his Evo in winter or not. Storing the Evo in winter (3 months)doesn't make it a garage queen. I believe the reason he's storing his Evo in winter is for it to not rust since he knows that the people who are telling him to drive his Evo in winter will not pay to get the his rusted parts fixed and/or replaced.

Storing the Evo for 3 months of winter leaves the OP 9 months to enjoy his rust free Evo.

I wasn't really asking for opinions whether I should drive my evo or not I already decided I don't want too just wanted some input on storage solutions. Thanks

would it be sensible to downtune my car for the winter because it is a daily driver and its at 500+whp right now, would it better if i downtune it or it wont make a difference
