Idk what it is. Its every once in awhile, I feel like I can see a little better when sitting in friends evos without the brackets. I doubt I will ever take the binary brackets out though.

So, this might seem a little abstract, but how easy is it to retrieve your cellphone or change when it drops between the center console and the seat? lowered vs. stock

I've had the lowering seat brackets in my car for so long now that when I sit in a normal height Evo I forget that's how stock was. The Evo should have come this way factory.

My friends always comment about the "stadium" seating though when they're in the back.

I must be the only one who has zero desire to lower his seat. I'm ~5'11", so it's not as if I'm short and I see nothing wrong with the seating position. In fact, for my body and driving style, it's perfect as it sits. I love the open greenhouse, love being able to look around in traffic without strain. It makes for a faster, less stressful drive. YMMV

Being 6'5" myself, I look forward to lowering my seat. I hate leaning over forward to see the traffic lights.

My EVO never used to feel high until I started driving an mr2 as a daily. I now want some of these.

I'm only 5'9", but my knee hits the steering wheel when I heel-n-toe, and the steering wheel position is weird because I can't sit closer. Auto-x and track guys will love this mod as a cheap and quick way to make the controls more accessible. I would classify this as a driver mod.

I had this problem, made track days a ****ing pain in the ***. It also gives you more room to heel-toe.

OK, still don't get it. It's not like we're driving mid-60s Alphas with a footwell that leans all the way to the right. The Evo is perhaps the easiest car to heel-and-toe I've driven in 30+ years behind the wheel. At the risk of asking the brutality obvious, how are these brackets better than simply adjusting the steering wheel to fit your knees? You're 5'9". There's lots of room to spare.

This reminds me of the LICP discussion from the other day. "LICP gives more power." No, not on a stock-like car. "It's not the power, it's the improved spool." There's no evidence of improved spool. "It's not the spool, it's the expansion under boost and the shorter length." Petty much relevant, once the pipe is pressurized. Same thing here. There are really two reason why one would want to lower the seat: the size of the driver and/or track-only machine.

Edit: Below is a clip from TG Australia showing what happens when a racing seating position is employed on the street. Yes, it's significantly more extreme than the lowering brackets, but it does underline a point:
