should I retune?

Does a tuned car get out of tune overtime? The previous owner of my evo 8 had the car dynotuned in 2007. Should I get it retuned after installing a wideband and licp? Thanks

If you change parts on the car it's never a bad idea to retune it. If it stays exactly the same as it was when it was tuned then it should be fine.

its up to you really, do you know the person who tuned it? i got mine retuned when i got it just so i know who tuned it and so i know its a safe tune. i bought my car and it had a tune from some one who said they could tune, then when i took it to my tuner whos tuned many evos over the years said the tune was very agressive and not on the safe side for longevity.

the wideband is a monitoring device and its kinda a must have for any tuned evo. i would def get that in there ASAP. It will tell you if your safe under WOT or you motor could be a ticking time bomb..... also a good thing to have when getting tuned is the knock indicator enabled in tephra V7 another tool that is another must have monitoring tool to keep your engine alive!

I disagree with this statement. Tunes don't change over time and unless your fuel pump goes bad or injectors get clogged, the wideband shouldn't read different than the day it was tuned.

I had my car tuned by English and never considered getting a wideband because I see no need for it; they tuned it, I know what it's tuned at, why should I need to look at it all time time?

People who track their cars then maybe, but anyone who dailies their car, I think it's unnecessary

When getting a dynotune do the tuners have a wideband sensor to read from even when I don't have one installed?

When a fuel pump starts to crap out you WOT AFRs will start to lean out, causing knock and detonation. Then kaboom. The purpose of a tune is basically get more power. When you up your boost you pump runs harder, things that run harder tend to break sooner. A wideband is cheap insurance, it will help sense early failure. It's your motor.

Some tuners use a sniffer device that goes in your tail pipe, others wire the widebands to there ecu or a comport and use evoscan to monitor.

I daily mine, and I have a wideband. I trust my tuner alot, and let him make decisions on how to tune it, but I don't trust him enough for me to drive away and "assume" the AFR's are where they should be. I agree with fastyouth13113, it is a "must have" if you are tuned (Daily, track, or stored)

I would have to agree with having a wideband... Some times parts fail instantaneously, where others die out slowly. When it comes to AFRs, I like knowing everything it working properly, especially with an aggressive tune with little room for deviation... Just my .02

I would say get it retuned just for the fact that the capabilities of these cars has changed over the last 5 years, basically more understood out of experience and trial and error. Again, just my .02, but who would have thought a stock IX block, head, and turbo would make 350+ (MD) on pump gas back in 2007? Few would be my guess... Just my opinion.

Yeah I would just get it re-tuned. Parts age and the like the poster above says there have been big changes in stock ECU knowledge tuning since 07 which really was the "early" days of flashing.

On the wideband yes its not necessary to have but it is a good thing to have to check on the AFRs from time to time. Note that in all fairness unless you drive with your eyes glued to that thing all the time its possible you would miss it being to lean anyway unless you have someone riding shotgun.
