Bov position

What is the difference between running the bov on the intake piping or the uicp.

Im not sure if im right but the one on the intake is recirculated. the one on the UCIP is 100% atmospheric. I just put in a HKS one and it sound great.

Yes, as long as you go with an oem-like configuration, the only difference is recirculated vs venting. Between shifts, etc, air is released from the uicp thru the bov. From there it either returns to the intake pipe (recirculated), or (if your ecu is set up properly) it could just vent out to atmosphere, making the hallmark "bov sound" that the fan-boy in all of us love...whether we admit it or not.

In either case, the bov is positioned the same, just the end destination of the released air is different.

what yogsaahoth said.

stock, the BOV is mounted on the intake pipe but is directly connected to the UICP. most aftermarket are mounted directly to the UICP and will either vent to atmosphere if you're SD tuned or recirculate back to the intake pipe if you're MAF tuned

FAVORITE QUOTE OF THE DAY: it could just vent out to atmosphere, making the hallmark "bov sound" that the fan-boy in all of us love...whether we admit it or not.

Isn't that the truth

It has to be on the pressure side (uicp) theres nothing to vent on the intake pipe

No it will not ruin anything, it is actually supposed to be recirculated

Does running the car on stock tune with a 100% vented BOV not cause idle/surging/throttle issues?

with it being stock, your ecu thinks that bov air is going back to the engine. if its vented to atmosphere, all that air is being taken away from your engine, causing sputtering, rpm drop, and sometimes stalling.
