Help please! info on crushed IX metal BOV i purchased
OK i bought a IX bov that had been crushed by AMS the seller said. i received it today, then installed. I took it for a drive and it wasnt releasing any back pressure. I took it off and looked at it and the valve doesnt open all the way... my questions are is the crushed IX bov supposed to be like that. Or does anyone have any idea of help on what might be causing this? everytime i let of it pops off the pipe bc the valve wont open. its not making the infamous "psshhh" noise... Please help. im only running 26psi
Have you researched on what crushing a bov entails? The bov is put into a vise and usually a socket is put on top and then squeezed to smash the top of the bov, thus making the spring and what not inside stiffer and have less travel. Have you tried boost leak testing to see what psi that it opens at?
If the nipple is touching the edge that's about as far as it should ever be crushed. Mine's not even crushed that far (almost though) and it holds 32+psi just fine.
If that nipple is bent up it's been crushed too far.
