Well I just had to replace my oem battery last night. I bought my 06 evo ix gsr 3 years ago with 14k on the clock, it just rolled over 50k and the oem battery finally took a dump! 6 years on the original battery, im impressed! This car never ceases to amaze me! Just thought I would share, cheers!

 

That seems like a long time for a battery, awesome!

I think I went through a battery every three years on my Talon Tsi.

I've got one of those smaller batteries on my Evo IX, cranks slower in the winter, but only two years old so hoping it keeps on going.

 

I purchased my evo new in oct 06 and it still cranks.
Never leaked any acid too!!

Ditto mines is a 05, died on me last summer. I shed a tear when I had to part away from it. Anybody now who manufacture the OEM unit? I think the manual says its not serviceable, but I see you can add water and keep the party going.

 

I'm at 51,000 miles on my 05 with an OEM battery as well! Ive never had it on a trickle charger or anything either. Whenever I planned to store the car for extended periods of time I simply disconnected the ground from the battery.

 

my evo 6 is a 2001 and when i bought it 15 months ago it still had the standard battery from 2001 and i only changed it because it was a slow starter,fitted a new battery and still the same,changed the starter and still the same so i think i need to change all the earths so oem batterys are good when looked after

 

I have a 05 MR, bought it in 06 will 11,000 miles, and still have my oem battery in my car, and have 60,000 miles now, and 8 year old battery.

Yeah I just replaced mine a few months ago... Almost made it 7 years.

 

It's funny I see this post because I've always wondered why oem batteries seem to have a better life than aftermarket my 2005 MR battery lasted nearly 6 years, my wife's 2008 IS350 still has original battery and my Hondas battery lasted nearly 7 years. As soon as I switch to aftermarket, I change them every 3-3.5 years

 

I tried refilling with distilled water and charging but it just goes dead! I was kind of upset about losing an oem part that came with the car in some wierd way but I guess its no different than installing anything aftermarket.

 

I just replaced my 2004 OEM battery. Lasted me 70k miles and almost 9 years.

 

Thats pretty crazy, I bought my 06 MR used back in September and now that i think about it im almost positive I have the oem in my car as well. Just hit 52k!

 

75K On my EvoIX. OEM battery still cranking after 7 New England winters. Hell, I got 73K out of the stock clutch.

 

I think I had replaced my OEM battery on my Evo IX SE last fall, which put it at around 5 1/2 years old. Not too bad.
