How long to you plan on keeping your Evo ?

Well, I am still in the market for the Tarmac Black Evo VIII and I have a few more questions for you guys ! I have talked down the dealership to looooooow $28k for a black one with Sunroof, CF wing, sport gauge package, shift knob, pedals, strat bars (front/back) and carbon fiber dash. I thought that was prtty good and I have talked to him about the clutch issue - and he was very upfront with me about everything ! Great guy.. anyhow ! I was wondering:

1. How long will you keep your evo ?

2. How long will the engine last before rebuilt turbo/engine ? 19 PSI is kind of scaring me for longevity ! I know my Celica will last me well over the 100k mile mark - will the evo ?

That is about it ! thanks guys !!!

The Evo was my dream car. I've tried to get my hands on one ever since I first saw an Evo V in Istanbul in the mid 1990's. I plan to keep it as long as I can.

100K shouldn't be a problem at all on a stock drivetrain provided it's broken in and maintained properly. If you keep your mods relatively conservative (i.e., turbo-back, reflash, boost taper correction) you shouldn't have any problems at all.

Just look at all the DSM's still on the road here in the US. Then consider how many Evos 1-7 are still on the road in Europe. I have friends with tens of thousands of miles on their Evo VI - TME's without any trouble at all. These guys beat on their cars everyday, track them regularly, and even take them off road from time to time (but no drag racing!)...and they're still running strong. You just need to maintain the car well.

Not keeping it very long apparently, selling mine next month. But thats only because I'm moving to Japan and can't take it with me.

For now though it still running like new with 10k+ miles

Until the wheels fall off.

Then I'll just put them back on

1) It's hard to see myself driving any other car for the price and performance. UNLESS the Skylines come to US. Or maybe a Porsche GT2.

2) This question is better left off to those who have previous generations of Evo's.

I really don't ever plan to get rid of it. After it starts getting old and slow, I'll have another car by then and will be rebuilding my Evo to make it even better.

It's a car I plan to have for a long, long time. I think I will always have an Evo in my stable of cars.

My 93 TSI modded Talon had 118,000 miles on it when I sold it and was running great. I plan to keep my Evo for a couple of years and maybe buy another one!
