It was dark and cold as I remember. The Evolution VIII was just hitting the ground in the US. I called Sunrise Mitsubishi in Oakdale and was given the good news. They had one. A black A61. I headed over. 76 miles on the odo. I took her for a spin and then home.
The back story. I was and still am a Mitsubishi fan boy. Starting with a 1991 Diamante now with 220,000 miles that I have owned for 21 years. Then some VCR's, TV's a 1992 Galant VR4 that now has 215,000 miles and has been kept by me for 20 years.
When I heard the Evo VIII was planning on hitting our shores long ago I looked forward to seeing, driving and possibly owning one. This would be a nice upgrade to the GVR4 that I had been enjoying for some time.
That day finally came just about 10 years ago. The time was right and everything fell into place literally in my driveway. An incredible upgrade for the GVR4. Turned like it was on rails and got up and went like a rocket.
To everyone here, thanks for making this a great community. Even though I haven't spent too much time here in the recent past I appreciate the enthusiasm.
She still is looking good for a 10 year old. Less than 50,000 miles and looking forward to many, many more miles with smiles.
Happy Birthday to my Evo VIII!!!

Like everyone else said, hope the next 10 years are just as fun. I just recently bought mine, but I plan on keeping it forever. Hope my next 10 years are as fun as yours!
Thanks!
I changed the air filter today, err, yesterday.
I have 3mm left on my rear pads and 5mm left on the front.
Look like I will need some new brake pads soon.
Just about to cross the 50k milestone.
Today is the day! Exactly 10 years ago!
Still have the same grin every time I drive!
