do-luck cf trunk questions

Hi Everyone
I just got a brand new cf trunk.....

I was hoping for some install advise.

Any info would be helpful. Im not looking for the obivious....

More along the lines of keep the tenshion bars? remove them both? or replace them with the rs bar, since there will NOT be a wing. Im worried that with the lightness of the cf trunk will the two bars might snap the trunk or create stress cracks, or break it in way?

How to drill a hole into te trunk for the trunk lock? Do I want a trunk lock?

thanks for any help

cheers

When I removed my spoiler from my stock EVO 8 the trunk would just pop open full swing up when you unlock it.
Those tension bars are to strong, I'm sure the rs will be similar with your new CF trunk.
Don't install the tension bars and don't drill for lock!

When I installed my Do-Luck trunk I didn't use the tension bars. Had the GF get on the inside of the trunk and help line it up during install. It also had the key lock hole pre-drilled, sounds like you got the knock-off Do-Luck.

Didn't want to spend that much
For a trunk better things to spend it on
Its a vis trunk and looks fantastic just like their hood I bought
So tension bars or not?

I have the Carbon VIS trunk on my car and am very happy with it. It is just over a year old and looks just as good today as the day I got it.

I would recommend removing the tensioner unless you desire to use it as a weapon for protection. If you were ever in a battle you could place small bombs on the top of your new trunk, pull the level, and catapult those bombs 100yds. into enemy territory

Any other good advise from anyone else with install experience?
Would a gas strut be ok for the trunk?

That's up to you. I never really thought about it. I just use a rod that I keep in the trunk to hold it open. Also, I didn't bother doing a key, so I can't offer you any advice on that.
