Alternator issues on highway?

FYI: I searched and no similar posts have been made about my issue

I have an '06 Evo IX MR

Recently my car has been having issues on the highway.
my voltage meter goes below 14V,and will go down to apx 10v,
and the meter will fluctuate, as if its attempting to generate more charge.

Lights in the cabin dim (clock, dash, etc).

However if I let the car idle, or go at a reasonable speed (below 50-60mph)
I have no issues.

Anyone have any ideas? I dont just want to go out and buy a new alternator if it happens to just be a faulty wire.
Thanks.
-Charlie

Most auto parts stores have a battery and charging system tester. All they have to do is put two leads on the battery and it'll test the whole system. Also make sure your terminals are clean and free of any corrosion. Keep us updated and good luck

Check to see if it is RPM based. An alternator puts more amperage out at high RPM speeds so if it is consistently happening at the same RPMs it is probably telling you that your alternator is going bad.
What is the battery voltage when the car is off? At idle?
Have you checked for any other wiring issues or cleaned your battery terminals? Have you changed any wirng to the car?
