haha. I don't think " diving " into a clutch job would work out too well for me.

I would keep your car. Any mods and a warranty is out the window. The dealer will void it so fast your head will spin. Subaru cars have more issues with light mods than an EVO and make way less Power. Every Subaru owner i meet wishes they had an Evo after the Subaru breaks.

New ride is a new ride and if I can just mod it lightly it has the warranty...

Thanks for your input man. ^

I do agree though that now is the time to sell if they are offering 12k with a slipping clutch. You won't get 3k more after you fix the stuff. But if you fix it the car is a keeper. Timing belt replacement is comingIup soon too so plan for that expense as well.

Timing belt is due already unless you did it late the first time or just recently.

I say kep the EVO. I'm new here, but dont do it. I love my WRX, but it seems to me the car isnt worth what they sell. The WRX drivetrain is weak. even the new ones. Supposedly if you go anything over 300hp your going to blow the transmission. As a daily driver and mild mods its a perfect car. If you want a subaru STI is the way to go. I'm actually looking for an Evolution now. but good luck to you on your decision.

$1200 for just labor on a clutch job? Jesus!

Where do you live in PA? Don't go to the dealer! Go to CBRD!

If the car is driveable it's worth the trip. If it's not driveable, I bet it's still cheaper to tow the car there considering your dealer wants to gouge you.

The point is, there are many independent shops that can do those jobs WAY cheaper than the dealer, who is probably just trying to make you go elsewhere because they don't feel like doing the job

Yup, I've only put a few thousand miles in a car (any car, evo is my first), but learned that the dealer is a huge ripoff and they don't always have competent staff. Needed by drive axle replaced, took three attempts, a bunch of money. Told them to forget it, split the difference in the bill and took it to a small shop where they did it for a fraction of the cost and got it on the first try.
