Evo 5 Disapointment

Have just put an Evo 8 motor in my evo 5, rebuilt from the bottom up with forged rods, and pistons. We also put on 1000cc injectors, a new TD06 turbo, extractors, alloy radiator, new fly wheel and clutch, recon gear box. Currently running pod filter, BOV, 3" exhaust. We dyno tuned the car today and it only made 190KW at the wheels, was gutted. Mucked around a bit and got it to 210KW, still really bad. We then took the new TD06 turbo off and put on a recon TD05 off an Evo 9 and it got to 230KW but was detonating slightly so wound it back to 220KW. Cant believe it. The TD06 was purchased as a straight bolt on upgrade and it made less power. Im lost for ideas. Any opinions would be awesome!!

Can you post your full list of mods? How much boost were you getting out of each turbo? What octane fuel are you using?

I'm making around 260WKW with basic mods and stock IX turbo so there is definitely more to be had.

So far mods are: rebuilt gearbox with strengthend transfer case bolts, new clutch and fly wheel, extractors, evo 9 TD05 Turbo, pod filter, 1000cc injectors, full 3" exhaust, BOV, after market front mount and piping, alloy radiator. Am runnin or tuned on 95 as I live rural and dont have regular access to 98+. Im lost for words, really gutted. I have a after market plenum to go on, going to get throttle body honed, maybe mild race cams, link G4 computer and Double external waste gates. Im just in disbelief that a bigger turbo made less power it just makes no sense

All parts are genuine. We only deal through good people in CHCH. No cheap chinese stuff. NZ EFI Tuned it.

Something isn't right here.

What ECU are you running on? How is the octane rating calculated in your country? Why only 17psi? My stock Evo 9 internal motor is running 25psi, and I'm fairly certain 19psi tapering off is the stock boost setting?

I'm not familiar with the NZ tuners, but is that a reputable tuning shop that knows about Evo's or just in general?

Octane in NZ is RON, so 95 is the equivalent of about 91 RON/MON.

The ECU is standard but they are a flash rom so can be re tuned. Tuners have a good rep. Dyno is a hub dyno. Everything running fine with the motor its just not making the power it should. Motor has now only done 200km on the rebuild. Wondering if I should run it in more and retune again later

Then why only 17psi? I think 200km is probably WAY too early to be pushing a fresh motor.

The hub dyno is a dynapack?

200km is early but I don't know how much it would affect your dyno results. Has your tuner given you any answers?
