Cool japanese vs usa aftermarket turbo manifolds

Hi

I'm thinking on upgrade my turbo manifold i have seen that japanese turbo manifold like garage hrs, tomei, jun or hks are smaller than the ones from usa like full race, stm, toxic fab

My buddy says to go with a full race. I havent see any dyno sheet with the japanese turbo manifolds

so which to choose??

To be honest, I'm unaware of any differences in the stock USDM and JDM manifolds, but I may just not have heard about them before.

If you're referring to those aftermarket brand manifolds, I doubt HIGHLY that a mass produced manifold is making more power than a custom manifold.

You can find excellent gains by simply having your stock (USDM or JDM) manifold ported, and it's considerably cheaper than going the custom route. But those custom manifolds you mentioned are very very nice.

Keep in mind that these manifolds are different companies that produce them. Full race, Toxic Fab, Tomei, Jun, etc. are all aftermarket companies, Mitsubishi does not make these manifolds the companies do, just like if you were to purchase a Greddy exhaust, Greddy is the company that makes it.

You are paying the "JDM" tax for some of the more well known brands. Toxicfab, ETS, JDL, STM......they are all as good as the JDM's and hoenstly its all not worth it unles you are going with a bigger stock frame turbo. Otherwise just port your stocker or buy one from BR.

Tuning philosophy between Japanese shops and American shops are vastly different .

Japan - fast response midrange broad gains

American - peak power performance

This is general, not the creed of any one nations shop.

In my opinion go for the USA manifold rather then JDM one.. Another turn off issues about JDM one is hell they cost a bomb but perform like oem ported manifold....

This is pretty much the explanation for the different manifold styles, so it really depends on what you are looking to get out of your car.
Larger tubes allow the engine to push out more gasses, producing more power while the smaller tubes help with back pressure helping with low end torque.
Get the one for your application.

I disagree that the legit US offerings are all about peak performance (implying its at the sacrifice of low to midrange).

I've never tested JDM vs USDM but I would love to see the difference between a Tomei vs a Toxic Fab

You can port and coat your stocker for around $200. AWD motorsports or Buschur

After seeing what that guy that got scammed for 250k for a jdm turbo kit on a gtr, did to make it work... You'd have to be pretty stupid to buy a manifold for a rhd car, unless you have a rhd car.

That was a ****ty company in Georgia, They hacked the crap out of his car to make it work.
I'm sure better companies would have made it work just fine.
