Hey guys,

A friend of mine bought a 2003 VIII about a month ago. It had a twin disc clutch in it and he pulled the motor to do some work to it. Well when he got it all put back together we ran into a couple of problems that we cant figure out. I was hoping someone on here might be able to give us some guidance or insight.

First, most pressing issue. Is that the clutch wont disengage. When he took out the twin disc clutch he replaced it with a single disc and now you can look at the slave cylinder and see that it isnt pulling back as far as it should when you let off the clutch pedal. He has bled the lines and tried again but that didnt help. His boss is a mechanic and said that he would have to drop the tranny again which he is doing today. But he thinks it might have something to do with swapping from the twin to the single disc clutch. Any idea what could cause this or what to look for once he gets the tranny dropped?

The second issue is that the previous owner at one time had a bunch of gauges installed. And upon putting the motor back in my friend cant figure out what this piece is:



The orange wire, I assume connects to the battery, while the red wire runs under the car and back up out of sight near the gas tank. And then off the top there looks like a vacuum line of some sort.

We arent entirely sure what this is or how exactly to plug it back up. So any guidance on that would be amazing.
