UPS messes up again.
UPS messes up again.
So I took a whole A/C unit with all hoses and piping, compressor etc. to UPS. I needed to get it packaged and shipped.
So I paid maybe $80 to package and ship it. A week later the guy I sent it to tells me he got some AT&T Box and not the A/C components..
UPS never finds the package and they send me $100 for a $300 item...

1. Your fault for not packing it yourself
2. Your fault for not insuring it for the correct amount
If you drop off a pile of stuff and say "figure it out" to a group of people with a (high school?) education, don't be surprised that things can get mixed up when you don't see everything go into the box with a verified weight.

my question is why didn't you pay for insurance?
Also, this doesn't sound like a UPS mistake. It sounds like a UPS store mistake.
The difference is that UPS is a large corporation owned shipping company... they do not package items, they only thing they do is ship from point A to point B.
The UPS store is a privately owned mom and pop business that is a franchise that ships through UPS and offers other services like packaging, mail boxes, faxing and the like.

+1. UPS STORE is what it sounds like to me. There is one almost across the street but I have had so much bad luck with them I use Fed Ex that is a few miles down the road. The last time I used UPS store they screwed up shipping but luckily the post man that went to pick it up also delivers to my house and knew me so he brought me back the package luckily.
First mistake is to let others package it for you. Especially if your shipping a/c lines and compressors. You should do it yourself to insure the small details like capping off all lines and inlets properly.
Second mistake, not insuring it for at least the value of what it is to replace it if it gets lost.
Third lesson about UPS STORE, don't ever ship using their USPS because you will have no way to track it if it gets lost in transit between them and USPS. You will get the run around like I did.
