Covered dash and carbon

After a couple of years of procrastination and threatening to do it, I finally covered my dashboard, and covered some panels with carbon fibre. I used a very thin Alcantara that matches the seats and door cards, although it looks like suede. I was able to get the correct type of material from a place that retrims Porsches and Lotuses, it is nice to work with which was a relief.

I am very happy with the result I could have clear coated the carbon but decided to hand polish it as clear tends to mess up after a few years, and I didn't want too much gloss on it anyway. It still has a good shine though.

The Alcantara is very close to the door trim and Recaro seat material in appearance, so next job is remove and replace the door card material which is a little worn on the driver's side, and is coming away on a few doors as they tend to do.
I may also cover the Radio & Gauge cluster panel in the same material although am undecided. I do have a spare though so might as well and see how it looks.

I still need to remove some glue residue from here and there on the switches, but will wait for daylight to do that.

This is how it turned out. The Carbon on the climate control panel looks a bit messy, but that's just the way the camera light reflected for some reason, it actually looks fine:

This photo most accurately shows the colour of the material, it is jet black.
